Track Maintenance FAQs

We provide tie replacement, rail replacement, ballast placement, tamping and surfacing, flashbutt welding, gauge correction, spot repairs, drainage improvements and vegetation control coordination.

Yes. We maintain industrial spurs and facility trackage, including routine maintenance programs and corrective repairs. We have crews stationed in Phoenix and St John, AZ; Ogden, UT; and Rock Springs, WY who handle inspection and maintenance for some of our customers 24/7/365.

Yes. We can perform visual track inspections and provide a written report with recommended repairs and priorities.

Maintenance frequency depends on traffic, tonnage, speed and site conditions. Many industrial spurs benefit from at least annual inspection with maintenance scheduled as needed.  Others prefer us to do regular monthly inspections and basic switch maintenance.

We use appropriate maintenance-of-way equipment based on track size, access and scope, including tamping and ballast distribution equipment when needed. Our equipment roster includes Mark IV Tampers, Kershaw Ballast Regulators, HyRail Dump Trucks, Ballast Carts and Pettibone Carmover, Undercutter, and Caterpillar Loaders.

We use appropriate maintenance-of-way equipment based on project size, access and scope, and includes both on and off track equipment. Our equipment roster includes Production Tie Inserters, Scarifiers, Tie Cranes, Spike Pullers, Spike Drivers, Pup Tampers, Kershaw Ballast Regulators, HyRail and Off-track Flashbutt welder, Pettibone Speedswings, and Caterpillar Loaders.

Yes. We install, rebuild and replace turnouts including switch timbers, points, frogs, guard rails and related components.

Yes. We rebuild crossings for smoother operation and improved safety including wood panels, asphalt or concrete surfaces and approach work.  We coordinate and manage signal installation and maintenance as well.

We can coordinate with your team and local agencies for traffic control planning and scheduling. Permitting requirements vary by city, county and railroad ownership.

Emergency Response FAQs

Yes. We provide emergency response for washouts, track damage, broken rail, derailment cleanup support and urgent service restoration.

Mobilization depends on location, access and crew availability. We prioritize safety and can provide an estimated response window during the first call.

We can support derailment recovery with track repair, material handling coordination and restoration services. If specialized rerailing equipment is needed, we coordinate with approved partners.
